Talks which have been ongoing for over a year as to whether it is feasible to charge a fee to visit Dungeness (after all it is a private estate) have been finalised and we now see a positive step forward to achieve this goal.
A section of land at the entrance to the estate has been cordoned off – and this will be where the future toll booth will stand. The current plastic fencing has been erected to ensure no new wildlife will be affected in the construction of said booths.
There is still some discussion as to how much and to whom the 'entry fee' will be levied but it is rumoured fees will only be applied during the summer months.
Residents will have a permit and anyone visiting residents will be issued with a pass. Sounds like prison!
