With now only 4 fishing boats left operating from Dungeness the opportunity to purchase fish straight off the boats is becoming more difficult. However two boats owned by the local family business of Kenny and June Thomas, with matriarch Doreen in the wings one can now obtain daily fresh fish (assuming they can get to sea) from their recently refurbished 'Fish Hut'. As the boats (both large catamarans) operate from just off the point they are not dependent on sailing out and back on high tides. This means, from an early start each morning, the catch will be brought ashore around 1 in the afternoon and be on sale in the 'Fish Hut' thereafter. And you cant get fresher than that. They have their own website (see links).
Kenny and son Joe run the two boats with Joe skippering the 'Annaloision' with Tom and Paul and Kenny with David and Darren crew the second vessel.
Located a quarter of a mile or so from the lifeboat station – on the way to the 'new' lighthouse the freshly painted shop cant be missed. Well worth a visit.
