Lifeboat Galantry Awards

Following the dramatic rescue in January in fierce storms, the local lifeboat crew have been recognised for their bravery. At sea for almost six and a half hours in storm force gales and waves up to 9 metres high the local lifeboat managed to tow, a stricken yacht (Liquid Vortex) to Dover. Gary Clark has been awarded the Silver Medal for gallantry – one of the Highest RNLI honours. Other crewmen were cited for their courageous efforts. A full report can be seen on 'THE Looker' Edition 39 dated 8th March 2012.

Well done to all and for those not familiar with the lifeboat service in the UK – the crews are all volunteers and are supported by donations from the public
