The main headline in last weeks 'Herald' (other rags are available) advised all and sundry that the demolition of 'A' Station (Nuclear Power Station) has finally begun. Leaves me wondering what all the noise has been during the past six months. To be fair it refers, probably, to the fabric of the building. A small scaffold tower has been erected, about one story high, and some bloke with a hammer has been seen but not quite clear what he is doing. It was hoped to set up a time delay camera with one shot per day so that after six months or so we could have quick video of a window frame being removed – or something. Anyway the landscape will certainly be altered when the A Station finally disappears and it is going to be interesting to witness what effect the removal of this large 'windbreak' will have on the community.
